Where are you located?
Paper Dames is located in the beautiful wine country of Sonoma, California. We don’t grow grapes like most people in Sonoma but we do make beautiful handmade stationery and card kits.
Who is the creator behind Paper Dames?
Paper Dames was started by Lori Edwards who lives with her family in Sonoma, CA. She started the business in the beginning of 2007 when her company was acquired for the 2nd time in her career. She has been in the toy and gift industry for over 15 years and was ready for a big change. Lori has a love and passion for creating new products and a background in product development and marketing. Lori says, “I remember going to craft stores as a kid and crying in the aisles because my mom said that I could choose one project to take home and I just couldn’t decide.”
How did you come up with the idea for Creation Station Card Kits?
Buying gift cards has always been a long and stressful process with many hours of standing in front of a card rack wondering which card to buy. I was constantly frustrated and many times left with a card that I didn’t really like or nothing at all. One day I was at my son’s school and saw a beautiful handmade card on the refrigerator door. I stopped and thought about how long it must have taken someone to cut out all the tiny pieces and glue them on the card. I instantly came up with the idea that I could get the same look by creating stickers out of fabric and materials and placing them on cards to create the handmade look. Now consumers can create cards the way they want them to look. I put the kit together and people really liked the quality and ease of putting together the kits. Over the next few months, Creation Station was born and we showed it for the first time at the New York Stationery show in May.
What comes in the Creation Station card kit?
Each card kit comes complete with a crème colored blank card, envelope, one sheet of sticker embellishments, and one packet of confetti. The kit is so easy to use that you just peel back the stickers and place them anywhere on the card. There is a place on the back of each card to sign your name and let the recepient know that you created it just for them.
Do you only make cards?
Paper Dames currently manufacturers stationery, unique card kits for adults and kids, and scrapbooking stickers.
